Aging-In-Place Remodeling

Alison Baity – Holladay Brothers Construction, An Industry Leader

Holladay Brothers Construction, Inc (HBC) has been providing home repairs for a very special part of our community for the past six months: the forgotten and neglected seniors living at home in the Pikes Peak region.

With federal grant money received under the Older Americans Act (OAA), Holladay Brothers Construction, Inc has patched walls, stopped toilets from falling through rotten floors, provided heat and hot water, made numerous repairs, and installed a multitude of grab bars. HBC has also remodeled many homes for disabled veterans as a preferred contractor with the Veteran’s Administration.

In the meantime, we have increased our expertise in aging-in-place modifications and have become the Colorado Springs leader in remodeling for seniors. Our consultants are professionally trained Certified Aging in Place (CAPS) Specialists, focusing on mobility and safety issues. We work with in-home health care providers and family members to better understand each senior’s needs, and provide quality, trustworthy remodeling services.

The Holladay Brothers Construction, Inc team has found incredible joy in helping seniors through this involvement in our community. We have worked closely with charitable organizations in Colorado Springs that focus on helping seniors with basic food and shelter needs. We have learned that the best way to find an organization is by calling 2-1-1, the Pikes Peak United Way referral hotline.

We have also realized that it is essential for individuals in our community to help seniors living at home. There are far more needy seniors than local organizations can take care of, and with diminishing federal funding we can’t rely on charities and government agencies to identify and help them all. Perhaps there is a senior living next door to you who could use your help. You might offer to shovel their walk, do some yard work, spend time with them, or bring them a meal. Check with your neighbors to see what you can do.
